A Utopian Model Experiment.
The reality of climate change and the political and societal upheavals call for a rethinking of how we handle dwindling resources. This raises the question: How can we, as artists, respond? In search of answers, we will transform the museum space. It will become an immersive experimental space examined through performances, as well as light, sound, and video installations. We will involve the museum visitors and document the process.
Our experiment will be complemented by discussions with experts from the German-speaking and international theatre scene. We are: Prof. Michael Simon, head and initiator of "Zukunft Bühnenbild"; Tilman Neuffer, dramaturg; and other guests. Together with the stage design students from Prof. Katrin Brack’s class at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, we will research the following themes at the German Theatre Museum: MEDIA STAGE, MATERIAL AND SUSTAINABILITY, DIGITALITY, THINKING SPACES, IMMERSION, INTERNATIONAL POSITIONS, COOPERATIONS.
Invited and digitally participating are: Elisabeth Efua Sutherland, performer, artist, theatre director, Accra, Ghana; Shannon Scrofano, artist, designer, lecturer, Los Angeles, USA; Xinmo Li, artist, performer, critic, and researcher in feminist theory, Chengdu, China; Sanchayan Ghosh, artist, lecturer, Santiniketan, India. (In English)
Live and in-person conversations will take place with: Victoria Behr, costume designer; Katrin Brack, stage designer, professor of stage design; Tina Lorenz, head of the digital theatre at Augsburg State Theatre; Simone Manthey, stage designer, graphic designer; Christian Ziegler, director, artist, performer; Stephan Wetzel, dramaturg, editor; Peter Buchheit, workshop manager at the Bavarian State Opera; Miro Craemer, artist and curator; Christian Kass, lighting designer at the Bavarian State Opera; Ilja Mirsky, digital dramaturg at the Residenztheater; Charlotte Marr, lighting designer at the Munich Kammerspiele; Cendra Polsner, digital scenographer; Bernhart Schwenk, curator at the Pinakothek der Moderne, lecturer.
