What is the German Theatre Museum?

The German Theatre Museum collects things related to theatre and theatre acting. It shows these things in changing exhibitions.

There are exhibitions on topics related to theatre.

There are always various events accompanying the exhibitions. For example, guided tours, talks and sometimes concerts.
The aim of the museum is to show visitors how exciting theatre is and what theatre has to do with them.
It is the only museum for theatre in Germany that deals with theatre from all over Germany.

The German Theatre Museum has its own collection with many things related to theatre.

These include, for example:

  • Pictures: Photos and paintings of theatre performances and actors and actresses.
  • Stage models: Small theatre stages that can be used to imagine what the stage will look like later.
  • Written material: Texts performed on the theatre stage, letters, contracts or plans.

The museum keeps these things so that you can look at them later and learn more about the history of the theatre.
